1947 Research Laboratory Founded in a Castle
BAG Health Care GmbH is a renowned family enterprise, founded in 1947 by the East German Entrepreneur Gotthard Sachsenberg with the establishment of a research laboratory in the Solms Castle, in Germany Hesse’s town of Lich. In 1965, Klaus Sachsenberg, later joined by Margaretha Sachsenberg, expands the laboratory into diagnostics and pharmaceutical production.
1968 Onwards, Modern Biochemical Technologies
In parallel with accelerated scientific developments, the company introduces the production of prepared media, incorporating immunofluorescence and biochemical technologies. This is later followed with in-house production of blood group typing tests and HLA diagnostics. In 1996, the company introduces nucleic acid amplification based diagnostics.
Expansion
New production facilities are established in Lich and Fernwald. A partnership with the American Denver/Colorado firm, Steritec Corp. is undertaken to meet the expanding market for sterilization indicators. The company „Biologische Arbeitsgemeinschaft“ is renamed „BAG-BiologischeAnalysensystemGmbH“ in 1993.
2006 Increasing Capacity for Made-to-Order Products
Between 2004 and 2006, the existing clean rooms and facilities for sterile filling and lyophilisates are converted into 1000 square meters of modern state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and laboratory. This enables the company to address the continuously growing trend towards outsourcing, in the most demanding and specialized area of made-to-order pharmaceutical products.
2007 Relaunch as Global Player
Today, the company operates globally. With a new generation and leadership of Dr. Nicolas Sachsenberg, the company launches its new name and look on July 1st 2007 – signalling its vision of global growth and development in the new millennium.
