As part of its long-term commitment to innovation in sterile drug manufacturing, BAG has installed a new 8 m² HOF freeze dryer at its fill and finish facility—an investment that significantly expands lyophilization capacity for small to medium batch sizes.

But this upgrade isn’t just about hardware—it’s about future-readiness. Alongside the new freeze dryer, BAG launched a full utility system overhaul. Water and energy infrastructure were modernized to improve sustainability, reduce consumption, and boost operational efficiency—all while maintaining strict GMP standards.
“This isn’t just a capacity increase,” said a spokesperson from BAG’s MSAT team. “It’s a strategic move to strengthen our role as a specialized CDMO for clinical and commercial parenteral supply.”

The freeze dryer is now going through its IQ, OQ, and PQ stages. As part of the qualification process, BAG’s technical teams are aligning the new system with existing lyophilization setups to ensure seamless process comparability and consistent product performance.

For clients, the benefits are clear:

  • Greater flexibility in batch sizes
  • Improved scalability for lyophilized products
  • Reduced product loss
  • Faster time to market

This development reflects more than just growth—it’s a reaffirmation of BAG’s dedication to Germany as a key manufacturing location (“Standort Deutschland”) and to delivering top-tier, future-ready CDMO services in aseptic fill and finish.
